What do the Colored X's on my gps screen signify on the Sam Rayburn and
T-Bend BOATLANES waypoints/trails files? The Colored X's signify areas on Rayburn and Toledo Bend that should be navigated with extreme caution or, in some cases when water levels are low, not navigated at all. There are also some icons for tree lines and areas for idle-only. You can also Print a Copy of this information in more detail for the various BOATLANES lakes.

What approximate area of the lake does BoatLanes Toledo Bend cover? The BoatLanes Toledo Bend will get you safely from the dam to the extreme upper river with all the marked and unmarked boat lanes in between. The lanes take you into every major creek arm with lots of lanes that are only known to the old time locals. There are approximately 400 to 500 miles of lanes on one GPS trail. Eighty percent of these trails were made when the lake was 8-10 foot low during the past two low water periods. The other 20% were made when the lake was 4 foot low because the remaining 20% could not be run with the lake 8-10 feet low. It's invaluable for this lake. BoatLanes is invaluable if you are a tournament fisherman with limited knowledge of the lake.
What about BoatLanes Sam Rayburn? The BoatLanes Sam Rayburn has trails from the Pavilion all the way up the three arms almost to the 87 and 103 highways with two passages thru the forests. These trail were made when the lake was between 5 and 7 foot low.

Can I rely on BOATLANES waypoints / trails to navigate safely? Yes. We here at BOATLANES LLC have taken every precaution to provide customers with waypoints/trails that indicate the safest possible boat-running lanes on the lakes for which it has been created, it is the sole responsibility of the individual boat operator using the BOATLANES Products to watch for any hidden obstacles in, under, and around the water--Specifically in the direct path of any of the BOATLANES WAYPOINTS AND/OR BOATLANES GPS TRAILS. Do not rely on a GPS unit, BOATLANES waypoints and/or BOATLANES GPS trails to navigate in the dark, in fog, during times of reduced visibility or in bad weather. See BOATLANES Disclaimer and Warnings
Does a major storm -- Like a hurricane -- Affect the accuracy of these BOATLANES?No. The BOATLANES waypoints are based on the actual boat-running lanes relative to the bottom structure of the lake (actual lake structure) which does not change. A major storm may, however, increase the amount of debris that a boat operator would need to look out for.
Do water level changes affect the boat-running lanes in a lake?Yes. Water levels are important as some of the BOATLANES/GPS TRAILS on various lakes will not be accessible during periods of varying water levels. As a result, the specific trails affected by water levels are appropriately marked with detailed information on the BOATLANES install instructions included with your order. In some cases, however, the water levels fluctuate so frequently that there is no way to predict and mark those areas on some BOATLANES products. It is for this reason that we recommend always using visual navigation as your primary navigation and check the current lake levels before heading out for the lake.
